I was honored to have the Michigan Humane Society approach me to design the categories for their new Personality Program! Previously MHS used a “Color Code” system to help match up prospective adopters to their new pet; the animals were assigned a color such as “Green” or “Blue” to describe their personality type. MHS wanted a more user-friendly system, so now animals are assigned a category such as “Social Butterfly Dog” or “Low Key Cat” to help potential adopters choose their new best friend; and they asked me to design them! I created 4 designs for each category, and the below designs were the ones that were chosen by MHS.
The images displayed here can be found on posters at all of the MHS locations as well as having a small thumbnail image of the chosen category on the animal’s cage card!
The Special Friend category depicts an animal with special behavioral needs who will require more patience than the average pet. The Hardworking Cat category is for cats who are more adapted to outdoor-living and are candidates for being a shop-cat or a barn-cat (and can help with pest-control!)
